Trips & Visits

School Visits

Visits are arranged by school teachers and leaders during the year.

These are a valuable extension to the curriculum and often relate to topics studied in the classroom, e.g. theatre trips, visits to factories, farms, museums and art galleries etc.

Some visits will involve pupils representing the school e.g. for sport or musical events.

Information about the visit will always be sent in advance to parents, and an online permission form will be attached for permission and/or payment. Pupils will not be able to go unless the permission form is filled in. Prompt replies are appreciated.

For day trips it is usual for uniform to be worn, and this is often requested by the host institution. Day trips will normally begin and end at the school premises. Parents/guardians will be notified of any change to this prior to the visit taking place.

School Journey

A School Journey involves an overnight stay of at least one night and, as for visits, full details of the arrangements for travel, activities involved and cost will be given to parents.

Grants are available for help with payment for students who are eligible for free school meals, on application to hatchamprimary@habstrustsouth.org.ukIn case of emergencies, parents will be contacted by telephone.

Payments will usually be spread over a period.

School Journeys may involve travel abroad, for example, Languages, Geography field trips and leisure activities. Parents are reminded that they are responsible for ensuring that their child has the correct documentation for such a trip (e.g. valid passport). Some of these are part of the curriculum and others are for those interested.

The Year 6 School Journey is considered to be part of the curriculum. The majority of pupils will take part in this depending on the hosts availability.

Information about school journeys and trips planned for 2024-2025 will be published on the school calendar, and a summary of proposed journeys will be published at the beginning of the academic year. Please note however, that it is possible that further journeys may take place as appropriate.

The College Code of Conduct applies on any trip or journey.
