Hatcham Primary is rated Good by Ofsted

We are delighted that Hatcham Primary was rated a 'Good' school with 'Outstanding' features by Ofsted in January 2024.

Key strengths highlighted:

  • The school has a highly ambitious and well-organised curriculum that provides rich opportunities for pupils’ character development and citizenship. Teachers are experts in their subjects and ensure pupils build rich knowledge over time.
  • Pupils have exemplary behaviour and demonstrate a respectful culture, which is praised in the report
  • There is excellent support for pupils with SEND - pupils are identified quickly as school staff take time to get to know pupils and their families well when they join
  • Pupils participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities, including music, sports, and drama
  • The school has a comprehensive personal development programme that helps pupils gain confidence, knowledge, and ambition to strive for their individual future paths
  • School leaders are highly ambitious for all pupils and highly supportive of their staff, who are happy working at this school. The well-being and welfare of the whole school community is at the forefront.

Hatcham Primary was rated 'Good' or 'Outstanding' in all areas in its latest inspection by Ofsted on 29 and 30 November 2023. The full report will be available on the Ofsted website soon - we will add a link to this here when this is live.

The inspectors found that:

Pupils are exceedingly proud to attend this school . They enjoy learning and try their best in lessons. The school’s curriculum teaches pupils about key values including kindness, integrity and equality.

School leaders are highly ambitious for all pupils. The school ’s curriculum is very well thought out. Subject leaders have meticulously mapped out the key knowledge and subject specific vocabulary and skills they want pupils to learn and when they should learn it

The behaviour of pupils is excellent. The school helps pupils to establish healthy habits and routines that encourage positive behaviour from the early years.

[In Early Years] Children explore and build their understanding of the world and develop their creativity with increasing independence through well-planned learning opportunities.

The trust uses its business networks to provide further opportunities for the personal development of pupils. For example, pupils in Year 5 take part in a trust wide ‘Dragon’s Den’ enterprise project. These opportunities contribute greatly to pupils’ confidence and character development.

Hatcham Primary Examination Results

The way that schools are required to report their results changed in 2016.

There have also been changes to the National Curriculum and to the exams, tests and assessments that children are required to sit. Due to all those changes the measures reported below are not comparable with those published before 2016. The Department for Education has published some information to explain these new measures which is available from the school performance tables web site.
